With effortless and captivating charm, Emily Jane Pritchard steps into the spotlight as Naarm’s newest Indie Folk darling.
The Mornington Peninsula based songwriter pens intricate melodies and lyrics that linger on in the heart and mind long after the show has finished.
With early influences like The Cranberries, No Doubt and Nirvana, Pritchards voice travels seamlessly between heart-achingly sweet and ruggedly raw, sending sways and swoons throughout audiences, young and old.
While having drawn complementary comparisons to Julia Jacklin and Lucy Dacus, Pritchard brings a unique sound to the scene with her debut EP ‘Never Ending Holiday’.
Pritchard describes this body of work as a ‘product of doubts conquered, artistic renewal and the beautiful chaos of life’. Her songs explore honest moments of relationship reflection; taking the responsibility in an apology letter to an ex, the insecurity pangs of unanswered texts, the melancholy of trouble in paradise and the overflowing joy of being the cool Auntie of a tiny twirling dancer.
In 2022, Emily Jane Pritchard took to the stage at George Lane, St Kilda to showcase some recently written tunes, only to discover just weeks prior she was pregnant! Pritchard channelled this live performance momentum into the studio where - blooming at 8 months pregnant - she recorded 4 exquisite tracks with respected producer James Seymour (Merpire, Mathilde Anne, Katie Wighton) just in time for baby's arrival.
Now as Pritchards son grows, so does her readiness to share her music once more and luckily for us we won’t be waiting too long as Emily Jane Pritchard’s unforgettable debut EP ‘Never Ending Holiday’ is due for release in 2024.
